When Mercedes launched the W123 in 1976, it seemed to be more of the same story for the brand – a solidly built, over-engineered, safe machine.

Time confirmed this with W123 earning itself a reputation as one of the few truly bulletproof classics, having found favour throughout its life in many developing countries and challenging environments. Four diesel options were available, along with four petrol options.

The fuel-injected 230E is arguably the sensible/best choice as a user – powerful and economical, reliable, and more affordable than the 6-pot 280.

Revisions in 1982 mean the last Mercedes-Benz W123 models are the best of the bunch and more desirable as they take advantage of myriad updates introduced over the years.

Description by seller:

Recent service: oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, coolant flush, brake fluid flush & replace, new distributor rotor and plug leads. New v-belt, new fuel injectors and feed lines & fuel distributor cleaned.

Small dent at front of passenger door, paint is faded on roof and bonnet due to sun damage and cracked on rear left due to old repair, and the emblem (star) has come off the bonnet. There is a crack on the dash.

Aircon does not work. Central locking does not operate the left rear door; door needs to be opened manually.

Papers are in order (status reflects 'Used/gebruik') and licence up to date.
