The Kalk Bay Veteran Run, limited to motorcars and motorcycles manufactured before 1 January 1919, will take place on Sunday, 6 February. The run will set off from the Crankhandle Club clubhouse in Wynberg at 8h00 and will head to Simon’s Town via Kalk Bay.
Notable entrants include a 1902 Wolseley; a 1901 Benz (South Africa’s oldest car – purchased by its first owner during the Anglo Boer War); a 1904 Gladiator (currently for sale at Crossley & Webb; a 1911 Ford Model T Torpedo (the first sports car produced by the Ford Motor Company); and the only known example of a 1907 Nordenfelt 30/35 (chassis and engine were built in Paris by Bariquand and Marre and body was assembled in London by the Nordenfelt Car Company).
